Author of Preventing Crises at Your University published by Johns Hopkins University Press, Simon speaks frequently on crisis management, protest management and incorporating reputational risk into strategic decision-making.  He also serves as Visiting Fellow at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education for Crisis Leadership.

Prior to founding BMCG, Simon was Senior Vice President in Marsh’s Reputational Risk & Crisis Management practice. At Visa International where he Vice President, Simon was recruited to build and manage Visa’s global issues and reputation management program based on his experience at Edelman where he was vice president in the International Public Affairs group.

Simon provides BMCG’s higher ed clients issues and crisis management advice and counsel in response to protests, unanticipated leadership transitions, financial challenges M&A and closure, strategic planning, cyber, high profile sexual assault incidents, active aggressor events, and a broad range of the ethical, financial and social issues which frequently occur on campuses across the country.

 He brings this “hands-on” experience and applies it to helping clients in advance of a crisis or issue and has developed issues management programs and crisis management and crisis communications plans for clients in the higher education, technology, financial services, consumer goods, healthcare, and sports industries amongst others.  He has led training sessions, tabletop and functional exercises for organizations in the US, Europe and Asia.

Simon has his MBA from Cornell University, New York, his MA in Japanese Studies from Ehime Daigaku, Japan, and his BA in English Literature from Leicester University, UK. In 2026, he was selected as an Advanced Leadership Initiative Fellow at Harvard University.
