Prior to founding BMCG, Simon held senior roles at Edelman, Visa, and Marsh & McLennan. Over his career, he has provided advice and counsel to university leadership on a wide range of issues from litigation, cyber risk, and data breaches to fatalities, scandals, and protests.
His experience working side-by-side with clients in higher ed, technology, healthcare and finance, both nationally and internationally ensures that he understand the risks, board expectations, stakeholder demands, and—importantly—opportunities a crisis provides.
As spokesperson for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Deputy Commissioner in the FDNY and member of the team assembled to lead New York City through the rescue and recovery after the 9/11 attack, and former Head of Communications for the ten campus University of California system, Lynn Tierney is one of the most experienced crisis communications experts in the country today. She provides real-time crisis communications and decision-making support for clients as well as leads the firm’s educational initiatives on crisis leadership.
With 40 years of municipal, county, state and university public safety service, Pam brings extensive policing, emergency management, security, public safety policy and executive leadership experience and accomplishments to her role at BMCG. Pam provides our clients unmatched insight, leadership and experience as they develop, train, and build a strategic and integrated approach to workplace violence prevention, emergency management, safety and crisis response
A retired U.S. Army officer with more than 20 years of active-duty service, Kent has held a variety of leadership positions and has directed issues management, crisis management and crisis communications strategy for both the nation’s premier military academy and one of the world’s leading public research universities. He brings to BMCG’s clients over 30 years of experience working with executive leadership in large, complex, diverse and dispersed organizations to develop strategy in crisis, conflict, emergencies and highly hazardous conditions.
Jen brings to BMCG over 15 years’ experience in marketing, analytics, planning and project management in both education and technology. Jen leads the development of BMCG’s crisis readiness assessment methodology and assists clients through the development of crisis management exercises, crisis and communication plans, and facilitated crisis management planning sessions. She has supported higher ed response to a variety of crises including racial and sexual harassment, whistleblower claims, academic freedom issues, protests, and terrorism.
Jason brings over 20 years of experience in journalism, media relations and crisis communications to BMCG. In his most recent role at a top AAU research institution, Jason led the launch of a new internal communications initiative and served as university spokesperson for a variety of issues, including COVID-19, protests, racial unrest, sexual assault, freedom of speech, active aggressor, bomb threats, flooding, and data breaches. With an insider’s understanding of news cycles, editorial decision-making, and effective media outreach/advocacy, Jason provides practical and actionable advice and experience to our clients.
For more than 20 years, Kim has guided organizations through complex crisis management and communications challenges. She has worked with clients in higher ed, healthcare, food industry and manufacturing, helping them navigate a wide range of high-profile issues from protests and demonstrations to controversial leadership changes, litigation and government investigations. Kim’s “in the trenches” experience helps clients quickly develop strategies and responses to real-time issues and crisis events.
