Claudia Morain, Senior Consultant
Claudia has managed the multi-channel communications response for issues as diverse as major protests, medical malpractice, labor unrest, sexual assaults, NCAA violations, and infectious disease outbreaks. With specialized training in crisis and emergency communications from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations, FEMA, the FBI, and the Office of the U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for Counterterrorism, Claudia has provided media training to dozens of top leaders, faculty and students, from individualized preparation for national network television interviews to small group workshops.
She spent hear early career in journalism with assignments that took her from Los Angeles to Milan. As a staff and freelance writer and editor for newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online media outlets, Claudia has an insider’s understanding of news cycles, editorial decision making, and effective media outreach and advocacy. She transitioned into public relations with a role at the University of California, Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento, California, where she was later was appointed media relations leader for the central UC Davis campus of more than 35,000 students. Her experience also includes nearly four years as Director of Communications for University of the Pacific, a private nonprofit institution with campuses in Sacramento, San Francisco and Stockton, California.
